Divergent Giveaway

In honor of the (older) sister's birthday today (Happy Birthday Deb!) and because you guys were kind enough to give us 100 likes on Facebook (it's the small things that make us happy), we want to do a little giveaway.  

We here love movies and books so we love doing giveaways that involve them both.  I'm getting ready to start reading Divergent.  I saw the preview for the movie and it seemed like it would be an interesting book.  I thought I would try to read it before the movie comes out which is March 21st.  And I thought it would be a perfect book to giveaway!  Let's throw in a Fandango gift card too!  That way you can go see the movie after you read the book.

Our Plan for 2013 and a Giveaway

Wow!  I can't believe we actually went two whole years of seeing a movie a week.  (And some!)  How lucky are we to be able to pull that off!?  I have to say, we have pretty great husbands who were willing to put up with our schedule juggling to make it work.

So what's in store for us in 2013?  Well, I'm not sure we're going to be quite so adamant about getting to a movie every week.  We love it.  Don't get us wrong but it can be a little "inconvenient" at times to try to squeeze it in with kids, schedules and life.  If only it could be a full time paying job. 

For now, we're going to go to movies when we like (and can) but probably not every week.  My guess is that we'll still go to more movies than the average person.  If not, we might go through withdrawals.  Seriously.  We're ten days into the new year and I haven't gone to a movie yet.  I'm getting a little fidgety.  And we're still planning on reporting back here for reviews so stay tuned!

So to start the new year off right we thought we might as well have a little giveaway.  Free movie tickets anyone?  If we're not going to a movie someone else better be!

Giveaway: A Movie Night at Home

I've been meaning to do a giveaway for a few weeks now but can't seem to get my act together.  I figured it's about time to get on it. 

I recently found a popcorn company called Popcorn Indiana.  The popcorn flavors intrigued me.  They have different flavors like Buffalo Cheddar Kettlecorn, Bacon Ranch and Movie Theater Popcorn.  This seemed like a perfect thing to giveaway on our blog.  So I thought I'd pair a few bags of this popcorn with a couple DVD's and, because we can't go to a movie without them, a bag of peanut M&M's.  Sounds like the perfect ingredients for a movie night at home, don't ya think?

So here are the details.  One lucky winner will get:

• Two bags of Popcorn Indiana popcorn (Movie Theater Popcorn and Cinnamon Sugar Kettlecorn)
• The Smurfs and War Horse DVD's - a little something for the kids and one that everyone can enjoy!
• A big ole bag of peanut M&M's

Footloose Giveaway

Over this past weekend I was at a charity event.  It was one of those fun, dress up, eat, drink and be merry kind of events that supported a good cause.  They also had silent auctions for cool prizes.  One of the prizes happen to be right up my alley.  The main prize was a years worth of free movie prescreenings.  Pretty cool right?  I immediately texted Deb and asked if she'd go in on it with me.  She said yes of course.  I mean, if we're going to go to a movie a week it would sure be nice if a good chunk of them were free.

So what's this got to do with you?  Well, the prize also included a gift basket chalked full of movie goodies.  Goodies that we thought would be perfect for giveaways here on our blog.  So without further delay, let's get right to it.

For this giveaway, we're going to send one lucky reader a DVD of Footloose (The remake.  Not the Kevin Bacon one.), the CD of the movie soundtrack and a Footloose T-shirt (it's an adult medium).

Impromtu Giveaway

I love books and I love movies.  I love books that become movies.  It's no big secret here on Two Sisters.  So when I saw the new trailer for "The Host" while at The Hunger Games movie I was super excited.  Have you heard of this one?  The Host is a book by Stephanie Meyer.  Yep, the Twilight Stephanie Meyer.  This book came out in 2008 and it was real low key compared to The Twilight Series.  It's still Sci-Fi-ish but totally different then the Bella and Edward saga.  And, don't quote me, but I think it's considered an adult book and not a tween book.  Anyway, I read it when it came out and I thought it was really good.  A little different but I liked it.  I haven't given much thought to it since then.  In the last couple weeks I started seeing things about a possible movie and then last week, bam, a trailer.  Now don't get too excited because this movie doesn't come out for a year but have you seen the trailer yet?

First Giveaway in 2012

We're always trying to come up with ideas for giveaways that have to do with movies and that people will enjoy. We're not always super creative. A giveaway that's a no-brainer for me is a book giveaway. More specifically, a book that has been turned into a movie. And a movie that is heading to the theaters in the near future.

So for our first giveaway in 2012 that's what we're doing. Has anyone read the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich? I got into them a while back and I'm glad I did. They are easy reads that often times make me laugh out loud. They're about an accidental bounty hunter from New Jersey who is always getting herself into trouble. She has a former prostitute as a side kick and two men that are always complicating her life. Right now there are 18 books in the series and book one "One for the Money" is finally becoming a movie. I was a little skeptical of the cast but we shall see. Check out the trailer.

So, for the giveaway. One lucky winner will get the first three books in the series. One for the Money, Two for the Dough and Three to Get Deadly. And we're also giving away two tickets (through Hollywood Movie Money - they have tons of participating theaters!) to see the movie.

We're taking an idea from the last movie we saw, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. (If you saw the movie you'll know what we mean.) We're going to have an oxymoron war. All you have to do is leave an oxymoron in the comment section. (For example, bitter sweet) It has to be one no one has used so no duplicates. Once you leave a comment you're automatically entered. And if you want to double your chances of winning you can like us on Facebook and leave a comment here to let us know and we'll enter your name a second time.
